‘Starry Night’, Van Gogh’s iconic painting which plasters sorority dorm walls and is everyone’s favorite starlit scene, was painted by the artist during his in-patient treatment in the Saint-Rèmy mental asylum in 1889. The starry night sky the artist depicted was based on his view from the eastern window of his hospital window, while he experienced an epileptic seizure and fits of lunacy and hallucination.
